Colin Alexander is a cellist and composer working across a range of disciplines and traditions. Whilst collaborating with artists such as Kit Downes, Héloïse Werner, Abel Selaocoe, Max Baillie, Alice Zawadzki, Sean Shibe and Misha Mullov-Abbado, Colin also performs with a variety of ensembles such as 12 Ensemble,
LSO Ensemble for composers,
Phaedra Ensemble and United Strings of Europe.
Alongside his performing schedule, he has written new works for the London Philharmonic Orchestra, London Contemporary Orchestra, Contrechamps, The Mercury Quartet, Hyper Duo,
Le Nouvel Ensemble Contemporain and Bush Theatre, London.
He features on a variety of recordings on Delphian Records, Nonclassical, Accidental Records and October House Records.
Recent projects have included a new electro-acoustic commission for flamenco dancer, live cello and electronics for Resolution Festival 2025, a world premiere at London’s Wigmore Hall and a series of performances of his own solo cello suites - works described by Fiona Maddocks in The Observer as “quixotic and otherworldly, and strongly recommended”.

Colin is also a founding member of miré with Kit Downes (piano/organ) and Héloïse Werner (voice) – a trio where three distinct musical minds collide, entangle, melt and reform. Their debut EP Revelries will be out in January 2026 on
Delphian Records, followed by live performances
in the UK and Netherlands.
